BASIC SERVICE TECHNICIAN

 

Each year iTi conducts Training Programs for Members of the Sheet Metal Workers International Association (SMWIA) who want to become HVAC Service Technicians.

This comprehensive class is designed for the beginning service technician. This concentrated training program consists of 130 hours of intense classroom and hands on training within a 14-day schedule.

Course Objective

To have participants acquire a complete understanding of the HVAC systems and its components, in order to perform HVAC service work with confidence.

Course Work:

  • Electric Theory
  • Refrigeration Theory
  • Heating Theory (gas)

All three components cover extensive troubleshooting and hands on experience with active equipment.

Participants

This course is open to SMWIA members currently working for an HVAC Service Contractor who wants to expand the HVAC Service Department and needs additional service technicians, or a sheet metal contractor that wants to start an HVAC Service Department. All participants are required to complete and sign a Scholarship Loan Agreement (SLA).

All participants must be approved by the Local JATC Coordinator.
